International seminar

Sustainable management of stadiums and football pitches

Lipica, 18 March 2011

 


International seminar was part of educational program "International school of sport and leisure infrastructure management” infrastructure for sport and leisure." The seminar was held on Friday, 18th March 2011, from 9 to 16 hours in Equestrian center Lipica in Slovenia. It was organized by IASLIM – International Association of Sport and Leisure Infrastructure Management, Sport Center Association of Slovenia, College Grm Novo mesto – center of biotechnology and tourism, AB d.o.o. Žirovnica, Zeleni inženiring s.p. Ljubljana and partners: Rain Bird GmbH Germany, Optimax GmbH Germany, Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd United Kingdom, Indigrow Ltd United Kingdom, G&G Hauser, Golf & landscape Austria, Waste2Water Ltd United Kingdom, Symbio Ltd United Kingdom, Football Academy FC Ipswich United Kingdom, Football Federation of Slovenia and Green Consulting d.o.o. Slovenia. Lecturers were from England, Germany, Czech Republic and Slovenia. Participants of the seminar were managers of sport and leisure infrastructure, golf centers, business product managers and students from Slovenia, Germany, Croatia and Serbia. Participants have received seminar materials and technical documents for products and services for maintaining of golf courses. Materials were printed in English and Slovenian language. All lectures were supported by video presentations. Foreign speakers had consecutive translation from English to Slovenian and vice versa. Participants received professional training certificates. During the seminar business meetings were organized, presentations of the companies, promotion of products and services. Subject 12105: Athletic and football stadiums. Topic: Monitoring of grass growth at football pitches and selection of fertilizers. Lecturer: John Smart, Indigrow Ltd, United Kingdom. (consecutive translation) Methods for monitoring the growth of grass on football pitches. The adjustment of fertilizers selection based on the monitoring of grass growth on football pitches.

 

Subject 12105: Athletic and football stadiums. Topic: Football pitches management in FC Ipswich Football Academy. Lecturer: Alan Ferguson, head Groundsman, Football Academy, FC Ipswich, United Kingdom and Scott Forrest, Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd, United Kingdom. (consecutive translation) Presentation of the sports infrastructure in Ipswich Town, Football Academy. The system of management of the stadium and football pitches. Requirements for quality grass surfaces and maintenance criteria.

Subject 12112: Managing grass surfaces for sport and leisure. Topic: Watering of natural grass and artificial grass pitches. Lecturer: Rolf Krueger. Introduction of technological systems and methods of their use.

 

Subject 12112: Managing grass surfaces for sport and leisure. Topic: Appropriate selection of grass mixtures. Lecturer: PhD Christa Lung, Optimax GmbH, Germany. (consecutive translation) Types of grass mixtures and appropriateness of their use for different terrain and grass surfaces. Criteria and methods of grass mixtures selection.

 

Subject 12105: Athletic and football stadiums. Topic: Electrical machines for maintenance of grass at football pitches. Lecturer: Simon Anderson, Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd, United kingdom. (consecutive translation) Types of electrical machines for maintenance of natural and artificial turfs. Ecological benefits of electric machines. Methods of their use.

 

Sightseeing of the equestrian center Lipica was organized for the lecturers and participants of international seminar.

 

In the afternoon Assembly of Sport center association of Slovenia was held in Hotel Maestoso in Lipica. Over 50 managers of sport centers and professionals, have spoken about future development of sport and leisure infrastructure, legislation and introduction of new technologies.
